STATE DATA CENTRE (SDC)
The State Data Centre (SDC) has been identified as one of the important element of the core infrastructure for supporting e-Governance initiatives of National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).
Andaman & Nicobar State Data Centre (ANSDC) is envisaged to provide consolidated services, applications and infrastructure to provide efficient electronic delivery of G2G, G2C and G2B services. All the line departments of the Andaman & Nicobar administration are leveraging the services of SDC infrastructure space to house ICT assets within the UT in an environment that meets the need for reliability, availability, scalability, security and interoperability.
The Union Territory (UT) of Andaman & Nicobar has already developed most of their e-Governance applications and some of the applications are in the pipeline for development.
The scheme envisages that the project is to be implemented through a State Implementation Agency (SIA) appointed by States/ UTs.SOVTECH (Society for Promotion of Vocational and Technical Education) has been designated as the State Implementing Agency.
Andaman & Nicobar Administration has already implemented the State Data Center Phase I. In reference to the guidelines of MeitY, GoI for State Data Centre, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration had implemented the State Data Center in March 2013. M/s TCS Ltd. was selected as Data Centre Operator for 5 years ie., till March 2018. After the expiry of the contract on 14th March 2018, SOVTECH has taken over the Operations &Maintenance of State Data Centre.
State Data Center has been providedinternet lease line from BSNL with a bandiwidth of 400 Mbps to enable web hosting of the applications.
The facility is equipped with round the clock power supply and sustains full operations for a maximum of 72 hours in case of complete power disruption.
- To provide an environment of high network and information security for departments to host their e-Governance applications.
- To provide 24x7 services with adequate backup on IT and Non-IT infrastructure for the department's e-Governance applications.
- Centralized management of data in secured environment and development of repository for A&N Administration.
- Providing platform to all Mission Mode departments for hosting their applications.
- Keeping track of cyber attacks on government applications/data hosted in SDC.
Fully sponsored by MeitY, Government of India during the 1st five years of implementation. Thereafter, SDC is funded by grant-in-aid provided to SOVTECH by A&N Administration.
SDC is operational since March 15th, 2013 and has completed 8 years of successful operations. Fifty Two (52) applications from various departments are hosted in the data centre. CCTNS and e-PDS are co-located applications and the remaining applications are co-hosted in the data centre.
A complete refresh of the State Data Centre is in the pipeline.The proposed phase II of the State Data Centre in Andaman & Nicobar Administration shall act as a key-supporting element of e-Governance Initiatives & businesses for delivering services to the citizens with greater reliability, availability and serviceability.
