About SOVTECH

The Society for Promotion of Vocational & Technical Education (SOVTECH) is registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860 vide Registration No.1257 dated 21.03.2006. The Society is promoted by A & N Administration with Hon' ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands as the President of the General Body and the Chief Secretary as the Chairman of the Executive Council. SOVTECH is the State implementing Agency for Digital India and e-Governance initiatives of GOI.

Mission

SOVTECH is dedicated to provide solutions envisaged by A & N Administration in Information Technology sector.

Aims & Objectives

To implement and sustain National eGovernance Programme, based on economic development and good governance of IT policy of A & N Administration.
To implement other IT initiatives.
To launch schemes of Technical and Vocational Education and to impart technical education leading to award of degree/diploma as well as vocational education in the nature of module based certifiable skills to students and current work force in the A & N Islands.
To provide a Community Institute interface so that Science & Technology inputs can be transferred to the community through skill training, technology transfers and organization of support services.
To ensure for the rural society a fair share of benefits from the investments in technical education system and thus bringing socio-economic upliftment and improvement of quality of life of rural community.
To sensitize students and faculty of the institution under its control towards live problems of the community needing scientific & technological inputs/interventions.

To provide communication support through out the A&N Islands through Very Small Aperture Terminal(VSAT) system.
To act as information provider to the Community.
To run Communication Information Centres at different locations of the A&N Islands/for promoting eGovernance and spread of information and train/provide manpower for running such centres.
To organize/conduct short term courses in different fields for the inhabitants of A & N Islands.
To undertake technical support services by way of designing, upgrading, repairs, maintenance, servicing etc of equipments systems etc.
To undertake selection process for various technical posts under A & N Administration for public sector undertakings and corporate sector of A & N Islands.
